How to Get Your Kazakhistan Digital Nomad Visa

Kazakhstan is now offering a simplified process for IT specialists from around the world to obtain permanent residency under the Digital Nomad Residency Program, launched in March 2025. This program aims to attract skilled IT professionals to the country.

Overview of the Kazakhstan Digital Nomad Visa

The Kazakhstan Digital Nomad Visa (B9-1 Visa) was introduced as a pilot project in March 2025. It is specifically designed for foreign IT professionals who wish to relocate to Kazakhstan for permanent residency. The residency is valid for 10 years, allowing digital nomads to establish themselves in the country.

One of the key benefits of the Digital Nomad Residency is that applicants do not need to demonstrate a specific income level or savings. The application process is highly streamlined and can largely be completed remotely, with applicants able to obtain preliminary approval for residency online without needing to travel to Kazakhstan initially.

Additional Visas for Digital Professionals in Kazakhstan

In addition to the Digital Nomad Visa, Kazakhstan also introduced two other visa options in November 2024 to attract skilled professionals:

  1. B12-1 Visa (Neo Nomad Visa):
This visa is designed for digital professionals and entrepreneurs who want to live in Kazakhstan while working remotely for foreign employers. To qualify, applicants must prove a minimum monthly income of $3,000. The Neo Nomad Visa is valid for 1 year.
  2. B9 Visa (Permanent Residence Visa):
This visa is intended for skilled professionals in fields with high demand, such as medicine, science, innovation, education, and creative industries. The visa is valid for 90 days and can be converted into permanent residency during this period.

These three visa types are part of Kazakhstan's broader initiative to develop its IT infrastructure and grow as a regional tech hub, aiming to become a key exporter of IT services.
